Biological Systems and Organisms

Eph (erythropoietin-producing hepatocellular carcinoma) B1 receptor, belonging to the largest family of receptor tyrosine kinases and playing an important role in tissue organization and growth during development, as well as in adult tissue homeostasis. Specifically, my research aimed to investigate expression and function of the EphB1 receptor in different in vitro of neuronal cells models: this to better characterize the intracellular signaling pathways triggered by the receptor together with its ligand ephrinB1 and to screen a library of novel peptides in order to identify new EphB1 receptor antagonists; EphB1 receptor, in fact, may represent a novel and interesting drug target in the frame of various diseases, including different types of chronic pain (e.g.: neuropathic pain, inflammatory pain, bone-cancer pain).

Research Keywords:
Eph receptors
Ephrins ligands
neuropatic pain

Current profession

Current professional activities type:
Research
In this moment, I'm investigating, EphB1 - EphrinB1 system. The results obtained until this moment seem to be important for discovery a new agonist for this system .
